Universities with Good Nursing Programs

There are very many Registered nurses (RNs) in United States, there are over 2.6 million and 60 percent of registered nurses work in hospitals. There are very many universities with god nursing programs. For one to be a registered nurse one may choose to follow three main paths which include:

  • A bachelor’s of science degree in nursing (BSN)
  • An associate degree in nursing (ADN),
  • A diploma in nursing

Students wanting to select the most appropriate university that offers the best nursing programs have to evaluate all the aspects of the various schools. One has to consider the types of programs and degrees on offer, how long these programs take and how they are scheduled. The BSN normally goes beyond the course work studied in most community colleges offering nursing programs. All the nursing management and specialized positions can only be taken by nurses with a master’s degree. For one to take the masters program you need to have completed the bachelor’s degree. The BSN programs offered at universities takes at least 4 years to complete. The AND programs are offered at community or junior colleges and take about 2 to 3 years while the diplomas usually take 3 years. For one to qualify as a nurse he/she must have graduated from an approved nursing program and also pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) which enables the individual to get a practicing license.

Taking the BSN in university that is registered is very important as most of such schools are affiliated with  local hospitals or healthcare centers ensuring the student gets extensive clinical training under supervision of professionals, apart from the usual class room study.
